Data for Final Sectors Launched

03/20/12 – Subsidyscope launches data on six economic sectors, including agriculture; education; health; national defense; natural resources and environment; and science, space, and technology. Across these sectors, at least $964.9 billion was spent on grants and tax expenditures in FY2010. With this release, Subsidyscope completes its unique compilation of government data on federal subsidies, including a searchable database that enables users to query grant and contract information.

Pew's Tax Expenditure Database

07/13/11 – Subsidyscope launches the full version of Pew’s Tax Expenditure Database, housing the complete set of estimates from the Department of Treasury and the Joint Committee on Taxation. The database is a first-of-its-kind, searchable and downloadable web tool, containing federal income tax expenditure estimates from 10 years of budget documents for all economic sectors, including health, agriculture, education, energy, commerce and housing, transportation and defense, among others.

Housing Sector Launched

03/30/11 – Subsidyscope finds that the federal role in the American housing market is larger than any sector studied thus far, including the transportation, nonprofit and energy sectors. In FY2009, the government spent $244 billion on housing-related grants and tax expenditures.
